In November, we hosted a high-level reception for government and affairs delegates in the heart of Europe, Brussels, welcoming more than 150 participants.
Our guests had the pleasure of listening to Ginni Rometty, Chairman, President & CEO of IBM in conversation with Frans Muller, CEO of Ahold Delhaize, a world-leading food retailer, and Andrus Ansip, Vice-President of the European Commission and former Prime Minister of Estonia. They spoke about trust and responsibility in the digital economy.
Ginni Rometty talked about the importance of responsible data handling in strengthening trust in the technology industry. Ms. Rometty called for targeted regulation to curb the bad behaviour of some dominant consumer-facing platforms and internet media companies. Mr. Muller described how Ahold-Delhaize is embracing rapid digitization while, in parallel, building customer trust. Vice-President Ansip gave an overview of the progress of the European Digital Single Market strategy stating that “Trust is a must” for its success.
Ginni Rometty’s remarks were reported in several international media outlets including CNBC. We are very proud to share this event being featured worldwide. Check out the video here.
